ABOUT US

The 1M Mentoring Foundation was founded by Jonathan Catherman, bestselling author, senior education consultant, and award-winning cultural strategist. Jonathan has worked in public and private education for 24 years developing and delivering effective leadership models and instructional processes. For his advocacy and success in developing culturally relevant youth mentoring resources, Jonathan was awarded the Martin Luther King Drum Major for Service Award and 2016 President’s Volunteer Service Award. Jonathan is the bestselling author of The MANUAL TO MANHOOD, The MANUAL TO MIDDLE SCHOOL, and co-author of The GIRL'S GUIDE TO CONQUERING LIFE and The GIRL'S GUIDE TO CONQUERING MIDDLE SCHOOL.

To develop research models for WOMEN IN THE MAKING Clubs and MEN IN THE MAKING Clubs, Jonathan collaborated with Dr. Ohlson of the Taylor Leadership Institute at the University of North Florida. Dr. Ohlson is the Founder/Director of the award winning Collegiate Achievement Mentoring Programs, C.A.M.P. Gator and C.A.M.P. Osprey. Dr. Ohlson conducts research and instructs on the effectiveness of K-20 mentoring. For his outstanding service to youth Dr. Ohlson was honored with the National Jefferson Awards for Community Service.

Longtime friends and colleagues Catherman and Dr. Ohlson work to align mentoring and instructional processes with research and proven strategies relevant to needs in youth development, education, athletics, workforce preparedness, and community engagement. Together they share the goal of providing mentoring resources to 1 million young “men and women in the making”.
